Golden Globe winning motion picture Slumdog Millionaire is actually related to SA!
The funny thing was when I got to my desk and read the Sowetan newspaper , only to find out that a man named Vikas Swarup , who is the author of the book " Slumdog Millionaire" -the movie that swept the Golden Globes clean winning four awards this year-was actually based in SA. And then I thought wow, we got the globes too, after the Tsotsi Oscar... Turns out the guy is based in Pretoria. How weird is that? Practically down the road from where I am. hmmmm... I bet there are many things that we get from the US but never really know because like this story it took days for us to establish the origin of something, that was made here.
