Thabs and Thuba say goodbye on Idols
Thabs Kgoroeadira (20) from Johannesburg and Thuba Myeki (18) from P.E. are the first two Idols voted out by public vote in Idols Season V. Viewers voted for 24 hours since the start of last night’s [Sunday, 22 February] Top 14 Studio Round until five minutes into tonight’s show. And when the votes were tallied tonight, Thabs and Thuba had the fewest votes, and so had to go. The tension in the studio was palpable when Idols host Liezel called Ntsepa to the stage, but it turned out to be a red herring and Ntsepa was safe. Then Liezel divided the Top 14 into two groups – one group was safe and another was in danger of going home. So when Liezel called Thabs’ name, she already knew that the news would probably be bad. After saying goodbye to Thabs, Daniel, Thuba, Suzzi and Jason were still in the hot seat.
