ICYMI: WHO WON AT THE 11th SAFTAs

And this weekend, this theory was proved at the 11th South African Film and Television Awards where some of the local favourite shows were left empty handed when 181 judging panelists opted for "quality over quantity”. According to legendary actor and playwright Dr John Kani, who is one of the overall head judges of the awards alongside actor Jerry Mofokeng and film producer Firdoze Bulbulia, said when picking the nominees for this year’s awards they dealt with “honesty in pursuit of excellence”. “It’s very difficult for us to pick who will be the deserving winner so we had to leave it to the auditors. Founded by the National Film and Video Foundation, the nominee announcement which happened on Thursday morning in Bryanston saw local film and television personalities clapping and at times sighing at the nominees that were announced, with Kani even expressing that the awards should “reflect the population demographics of the country”. JESSICA NKOSI NEXT OPW HOST

Jessica Nkosi joins Our Perfect Wedding. PICTURE: WEB This month could be the last time reality show Our Perfect Wedding viewers see their longest running host Thembisa Mdoda on air, as Mzansi Magic today revealed she will be replaced by Isibaya actress Jessica Nkosi . In a statement released today (16/09/2016) the channel welcomed the Clinique ambassador as a new host of the wedding reality show, with her episodes anticipated to resume on  9 th   of October 2016, a role Nkosi - affectionately known as Qondi by her fans - will be joining the show for 13 weeks. This won't be the first time Nkosi takes the lead at weddings as in May she proved a hit when she held in for  Mdoda who went on break between May 29 and July 10.  "Jessica Nkosi became the viewer’s favourite after presenting a couple of episodes. PICTURE: Mzansi Magic After attending nineteen beautiful weddings and ushering couples to their blissful union in Season 6 of Our Perfect Wedding, Thembisa Mdoda will go on break from the 29 th   of May and will return   Sunday, 10 July 2016. The vivacious presenter has been shooting with the show non-stop since taking over from Tumi Morake and will be going on a short vacation to recharge.  “After so many amazing episodes, I’m honoured that South   Africans still appreciate seeing me on their screens, as we celebrate the love and beautiful weddings of the various couples.   I have decided to take some time off to regroup and gear-up for more exciting weddings to come.
