ANELE GOES TO PRIME TIME

 Anele's talkshow moves to prime time slot. PICTURE: Jurgen Marx AFTER clinching a South African Film and Television Award as Best Talkshow Host last weekend, it’s clear SABC3 is waking up to Anele Mdoda’s talkshow’s popularity as they push it to prime time slot. The show, Real Talk with Anele which premiered on 21st July 2016, is a daytime variety talk show that sees 32-year-old Mdoda featuring social commentary on current, cultural and lifestyle topics, as well as entertaining interviews with some of SA and international celebs, entertainers and sporting figures including Minnie Dlamini, Robert Marawa, Fikile Mbalula and Trevor Noah. Broadcast from Monday to Friday 16:00 – 17:00 on SABC 3, the show’s producers Cheeky Media’s Yusuf Stevens last week confirmed that the show will be moved to 5pm slot starting from April 3, meaning Mdoda’s show will swap with Afternoon Express which will occupy the 4pm slot from next month.  And Real Talk with Anele will als...

TREVOR NOAH MAKES TIME LEADERS LIST

Trevor Noah becomes second South African to make the TIME Next Generation Leaders list. PICTURE:WEB YESTERDAY TIME revealed its list of Next Generation Leaders and local comic and international television star Trevor Noah has cracked the nod. The annual list that dates back to 2014 comprises of ten young innovators and rising stars that according to the publication “run the gamut from innovative artists and impressive athletes to risk-taking activists and groundbreaking entrepreneurs”.  Phindile Sithole-Spong who made the list back in 2014, photographed by 21 Icons photographer Gary van Wyk The Daily Show host Noah, will be the second South African to feature on this list after HIV activist Phindile Sithole-Spong featured on the list in 2014. TREVOR NOAH IS COMING HOME

Trevor Noah to share his US tales with locals. PICTURE: GQ INTERNATIONAL comedian Trevor Noah is coming back home to perform for his local fans in August. The Daily Show host has partnered with Comedy Central to  bring "all-new material for the show that will focus on exploring how life has changed for him  after the big break that took him to America", where he's based hosting the show. ANELE MDODA TO LIGHT UP BREAKFAST

Radio and television personality adds breakfast host to her impressive resume. PICTURE: Primedia RADIO personality  ANELE Mdoda will become the first South African woman to take over a commercial breakfast show, after this morning she was announced to be taking over 947 breakfast show. Beginning her new role in April, Mdoda will take over  Darren Simpson's 13 year long slot, after he had spent 18 years in the radio industry. Mdoda who's worked on the station's afternoon drive for five years said she was " honoured to take on the challenge of the breakfast show".  "My first big radio break was at 947 and I am thankful to management for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. The Daily Show with Trevor Noah approaches the US presidential election with a one-hour “Democalypse 2016” Election special followed the next day by a post election episode looking at the results. The Daily Show with Trevor Noah – Democalypse 2016 will premiere on Comedy Central (Africa) on Wednesday 9 November at 21:00 CAT (with a funny analysis of the results on Thursday 10 November at 21:00 CAT). The news follows a record-breaking October in the US for the Noah-helmed Daily Show, which was its most-watched month ever among total viewers and its highest-rated month since February among Adults 18-49, and Comedy Central’s target millennial demographic of Adults 18-34. In October, “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” was the highest-rated and most-watched, daily late night talk show in the US among millennial men (18-34, 18-24) and #2 among all millennials (18-34, 18-24).
