The list which reflects the achievements of young South Africans throughout the year 2016 was streamlined in 10 distinct categories which represents key sectors across South Africa’s economy. The list which has a gender equity of 39 women and 51 men is an initiative meant to serve as a source of inspiration to young people around the world. When a South African university protest demanding free education turned violent in the face of police resistance, she joined their cause without any hesitation and spoke out,” writes New Africa Woman magazine. CASTER Semenya is officially the biggest winner this year. The Olympic gold medallist who excelled at the Rio Olympics earlier this year, last night became the biggest winner at the eighth annual Feather Awards – nabbing the role model and sports personality of the year awards. This comes after Semenya scooped an Athlete of the Year award at the Gsport Award in August, which was followed by a personality of the year gong which she scored at the MTV Africa Music Awards last month. Hosted at the Kyalami Theatre on the Track by television personalities Lumko Johnson and Khanya Mkhangisa, the Feather Awards are ceremony from the LGBTI community which aim to celebrate public figures who empower and captivate them.
