AND THE 2016 FEATHER AWARDS GO TO...

CASTER Semenya is officially the biggest winner this year. The Olympic gold medallist who excelled at the Rio Olympics earlier this year, last night became the biggest winner at the eighth annual Feather Awards – nabbing the role model and sports personality of the year awards. This comes after Semenya scooped an Athlete of the Year award at the Gsport Award in August, which was followed by a personality of the year gong which she scored at the MTV Africa Music Awards last month. Hosted at the Kyalami Theatre on the Track by television personalities Lumko Johnson and Khanya Mkhangisa, the Feather Awards are ceremony from the LGBTI community which aim to celebrate public figures who empower and captivate them. For the first time since their existence, the winners were chosen by the public who have been voting for their favourites. Best styled female went to Black Coffee’s wife and   Rockville   actress Mbali Mlotswa who beat personalities Bonang Matheba and Dineo Moe...

MRS RIGHT GUY STRIKES THE RIGHT NOTE AT BOX OFFICE ON OPENING WEEKEND

Mrs Right Guy hits the right note at local cinemas. Picture: Supplied Holding its own against blockbusters like X Men – Apocalypse , Angry Birds and Alice Through The Looking Glass local romcom starring Dineo Moeketsi. It secured fifth place on the industry Top Ten this past weekend just behind Money Monster . Produced by Dumi Gumbi, Kethiwe Ngcobo, Mokopi Shale and Cati Weinek, the flick passed the R1-mllion mark on Monday following its release on Friday 3 June. It opened 5% stronger than the recently released Paula Patton helmed The Perfect Match . It doubled the gross takings of audience favourite 2012 movie  Fanie Fourie’s Lobola (2012) and performed 19% better than last year’s Tell Me Sweet Something .
