Sax Appeal magazine hits the streets of Cape Town and gets people talking |
CAPE TOWN traffic intersections were buzzing today with scantily clad University of Cape Town students selling their infamous magazine Sax Appeal.
The magazine that is sold as a satirical read, was on sale for R20 all round the city but it's content was not as desired by some Twitter users.
This is not new though of the magazine that has been in existence for over 80 years as they have been in controversies dating back to 1971 - when the government banned the magazine for mocking the ruling party back then. In 2009, the content had religious groups up in arms after they published "Top 10 Atheist retorts to fundamentalists Christians". And yet annually they almost double in readership with its 2009 copies sold on their launch date being 35000.
This year's mag went no different, the cover that plays on the lines of the "50 Shades of Grey" except this Mr Grey is looking out at squatter camps.

Sax Appeal article about Domestic Workers |
Inside the magazine there is an article about domestic workers although the title almost refers to them as "DOM".

Johnny Bravo cartoon in Sax Appeal magazine |
And then to cheapen the content, the editorial went on to horridly drawing their Johnny Bravo pulling the "black face" referring to is as US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle. Not all is negative. Some of the content educates about homosexuality and safe sex.
What do you think of Sax Appeal?
