Ntando experiences drama at his listening session

Just as the poor Ntando was finally in peace on his own after leaving TS Records to start his own thing, then hell breaks loose as he releases his first CD under new management. Guess he should have stayed with Sbu because I have noticed a trend in former TS members, just as they get out of Sbu's management they never seem to make it even past first basic steps of getting into the studio.

Heard this from comedians Kagiso Lediga and Desmond Dube that "what DJ Sbu giveth DJ Sbu shall taketh that away" - Am starting to believe that now.

THERE was drama at the listening session of Afro-pop sensation Ntando’s new album Inqubela in Sandton, Johannesburg, yesterday when his production team was forced to change the lead song they wanted released to the public.

Robbie Malinga, the producer of the sizzling new release and ace sound engineer Mojalefa Thebe had wanted to release Ubolalela, a fusion of Afro-pop and African ballad, as the lead single to radio stations.

However, after the audience’s intervention, CCP/EMI marketing director Orack Shabangu conceded the audience’s favourite, Njalo, was to be the song.

Music industry experts and radio DJs who had gathered did not agree with the initial choice.

“I, as the chief nigger-in-charge, have decided that instead of Ubolalela, it is now going to be Njalo,” Shabangu said.

Njalo is number two on the list and Ubolalela is number one, in the order of preference of the producers.

Malinga, Sfiso and Brown Dash worked with Ntando on the song.

Yesterday’s listening session was attended by among others jazz artist Judith Sephuma, the producer of SABC1 music show Live Andile Ncube, Ukhozi FM presenter Linda Sibiya and Prince Tshabalala, the presenter of the controversial Jozi FM show Cheaters.- Sowetan
