Wayne Brady loves our booties...

You know we all think US stars have a thing against us or something, but not Wayne Brady and Boyz To Men as they really love us South African women's booties. Thank you Wayne.

US entertainer takes a line from his boy band members

WAYNE Brady, the US actor, singer and Emmy award-winning comedian, was told by his boy band buddies that he had to visit South Africa because our women’s derrières are a sight to behold.

“Boys to Men kept telling me that I should visit South Africa, and I quote: ‘The South African women’s bootys are off the chain’,” he said.

Brady, famous for the TV series Whose Line Is It Anyway; Don’t Forget the Lyrics and his The Wayne Brady Show is in South Africa to stage his improvised comedy Making It Up.

The show opened at Cape Town’s Grand West Casino last week and this weekend, Brady is heading to Carnival City in Brakpan, east of Johannesburg.

The star, who celebrated his 37th birthday yesterday, arrived in the country last Thursday with his daughter Maley, 6, and his stage crew. He has already been on the receiving end of the “candid honesty” of a Cape Town waiter who kept harping on about how fat he looked on screen.

“I don’t know if this is a South African or Cape Town thing, but this one night we were at a restaurant in Cape Town and this waiter comes up to me and tells me how fat I am on TV and that in real life I am skinny,” he said.

“I was not sure whether I should be happy or angry because he just went on about that, constantly repeating that I looked fat.”

Brady has been nominated for seven Emmy Awards and this year he scored a Grammy nomination for his debut album, A Long Time Coming.

He said his Carnival City shows — on Friday, Saturday and Sunday — will be opened by his “friends”, Idols winners Sasha-Lee Davids and Jason Hartman.

The 90-minute performance is a showcase of stand-up comedy, music and improvised “mayhem” that involves the audience — to prove that his material is “really made up and not what I wrote down”.

Because tickets were sold out, Brady added a matinée show on the Saturday.

But it’s not all work and no play, as he plans to take in some of the sights.

“I know this is such a tourist thing to do but I am going on a safari near Sun City, doing some shopping for warmer clothes for myself and my daughter at the Nelson Mandela Square and I’ ll get to see this place more,” he said.

Brady says that he already likes us so much that he is planning to come back to South Africa.- The Times SA
