First daughters and celebs vote in SA

OMG never did I think that so mnay people would be so proud of voting like the celebs of this country. I know David Kau probably pushed it by snapping himself with his ballot and the X on the Zuma, but maybe the man is happy to have voted for ANC.
Lets just hope that they all get what they voted for and what they hoped their votes are worth.

READ THIS my story on The Times:

They rave on about it on Facebook and Twitter sites

SOME celebrities were not shy to tell the world for whom they had made their mark in yesterday’s election, with one posting pictures of his ballot paper on Facebook.

Funnyman David Kau took a cellphone photo of his X mark next to the face of ANC president Jacob Zuma on his ballot sheet and posted it on his profile on the social networking site.

“Eish!!! Abo paparazzi have leaked pictures of me casting my secret ANC vote … I can’t live like this. I have privacy rights too, you know,” he joked .

Others were Facebooking and Twittering all day as musicians, models and actors flocked to the polls. And they just had to let everyone know.

R&B crooner Danny K constantly updated his Twitter status en route to his polling station in Norwood, Johannesburg. He updated every three minutes until his vote was cast.

One read: “Standing in line waiting to vote, this is what Mandela fought for. A simple right that sometimes we take for granted. Vote for change.”

Other celebs wrote about lying in bed, watching the news and watching the leaders of political parties cast their ballots on television.

Metro FM DJ Fistaz Mixwell wrote about seeing former president Nelson Mandela cast his vote, and poet Lebogang Mashile wrote on Facebook about how she was in her pyjamas.

“I’m gonna go to the polls tonight when the queues are shorter. If you are between the ages of 18 and 35, you belong to the demographic that has registered in record numbers to vote,” Mashile wrote.

“This shows that our generation is not the apathetic, apolitical, uncaring, thoughtless blob that we are often described as. Rock the vote today!”

Other well-known folk had far less important things on their minds, however — like socialite, businesswoman and all-round glamazon Uyanda Mbuli, who was wondering what to wear.

“So what do we wear to the voting stations? I’m thinking summer dress, big hat, flip flops and shades … well, that’s if the weather allows. What are you wearing?” she asked her friends.

Members of rock band The Parlotones Twittered about getting “haircuts and then going to cast their big fat X”.

Two 5FM DJs, Grant Nash and Gareth Cliff, also updated their statuses.

Nash: “Not too happy about waiting in the queue in Lonehill.”

Cliff: “Voting today! Sock it to the politicians.”

Actress Lee-Anne Summers Twittered that her vote was “quick and painless”.

“Happy election day, voters, and if u didn’t vote then u suck.”

Melanie Bala, celebrity wife of singer Zwai Bala, Twittered that she thought she’d “have voted by now ”, but her husband was at “Home Affairs for a temporary ID ”.

“As soon as he’s back, hitting the polling station, then KZN!”
