US actor Jesse L. Martin does some good while in SA

Okay I have to brag a bitjie too after meeting this hunky US actor called Jesse. I am such a fan of Law & Order and then I got a chance to chat to him and be snapped with him after drinking a glass of water and getting a hug from him. He said he was not married and had no kids and that he'd be in SA till end of June, so maybe he might have luck meeting his lucky woman right here on our shores.

Although my story was short on words, this is an initiative he was introduced to by our very own late-night talk show host Kgomotso Matsunyane, whom invited the star to come to Jozi for the weekend and be on her show while touring schools of Jozi with dancer Khabonina Qubeka and Sunday Times Lifestyle editor Lerato Tshabalala.

US ACTOR Jesse Lamont Martin took time off from shooting a television series to motivate high school pupils on the importance of self-respect.

Martin, best known for his role as Detective Ed Green in the series Law & Order, is in the country shooting The Philanthropist, in Cape Town .

The actor, who will be here until June, visited Cosmo City Secondary School, in Kya Sands, Johannesburg, on Friday morning as a guest speaker for the “Be a Legend” annual youth campaign, which is sponsored by the Gauteng Economic Development Agency .

“I am so honoured to meet children with so much talent. Sure, they might be surrounded by issues of teen pregnancy , drugs and violence, but these children are showing signs of yearning to succeed, improve their life and make a place for themselves in South Africa,” said Martin.

“I figured that because we are shooting something about giving back, using such a great place as South Africa, I might as well give back to the children of this country, who, like all children in the world, need to be motivated and be told how special they are,” said Martin.
