MORE MAGIC ON MZANSI MAGIC
LOCAL content channel Mzansi Magic is serious about raking in more audiences this year.
This comes after the channel yesterday launched news of getting three more new local reality shows, a remedy that has seen the channel raking in thousands of viewers each month. They've also revealed that some of their hit dramas such as Lockdown, Igazi and Isithunzi will be returning for second seasons.
Next month wills see the return of Igazi, a drama based on a Xhosa royal family in conflict over the throne produced by Ferguson Films, after ending in a cliffhanger in July last year.
In May, the channel will be serving love in the form of new relationship and dating reality show under the working title of Kheth'omthandayo (Choose the one you love). The sequence of the show will take one bachelor or bachelorette, add four suitors who match their requirements and eliminate the unwanted love matches so the contestant will remain with two suitors that they'd choose from.
In the same month they will also launched another show called Uthando neSthembu (love and polygamy), which will certainly get many talking as they explore the complexity and agendas of being in a polygamist relationship.
In July, the channel revealed that it will see the return of telenovela Ring of Lies which also ended after two months of airing despite raking in about 350000, which is a good number for DStv consideting they only have about six million subscribers.
Also returning on that month will be drama Isithunzi, a teenage drama first for the channel that revolves around a group of girls who call themselves "ninjas" different walks of life facing various challenges with leading actress Thuso Mbedu.
The month will also see the launch of a new drama iNumber Number - inspired by the successful feature film of the same
name - a series about a cop that infiltrates a crime family to bring his estranged
father to justice; only to find the father he has always wanted to have.
July will also be the month that Idols South Africa airs it's 13th season while Please Step In also returns.
In August the channel will host their Viewers Choice Awards - no telling what on earth this will be about but shows such as Our Perfect Wedding, The Queen, The Ranakas, Papa Penny Ahee and Date My Family - stand a solid chance of dominating each year considering their trending ability everytime they air.
October will be a sizzling month again as the channel launches yet another new reality show Imfihlo (Secrets) - a working title that could change - will see contestants revealing their "true selves" in their pursuit for happiness in topics ranging from admitting long term crushes to asking for forgiveness from their families.
That month will also see the launch a new drama IKhaya, a story about one man's life long quest to keep the secret of his two separate families living in two different cities from being exposed.
That month will also see the return of The Ranakas, Papa Penny Ahee, Lockdown all returning for their second seasons.
