THOUSANDS FOR TREVOR NOAH'S TIE

The Daily Show host Trevor Noah's tie is up at R26 000. PICTURE: The Observer Just what would you pay for a piece of Trevor Noah? Since he’s become host of The Daily Show on US TV, it’s clear some will pay a small fortune for a tiny piece of him. In a charity drive hosted by Comedy Central Africa on Thursday night at Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, an undisclosed bidder — known only as Daniel M — secured Noah’s tie for R25 000. But it is not just any old tie — it’s the Tiger of Sweden hand-made grey silk number that Noah wore on his Daily Show debut. Local stores said the average price for that tie was R1 299. By Wednesday morning, the battle had changed and an Eddy had upped the price by R1000 more than Daniel M. If all goes well till Thursday night, Eddy could be the new owner of Noah’s tie. - Article published in The Times on 23/08/2016
