COPYCAT OR FLATTERY?

Last week, the “black carpet” of the 16 th   MetroFM Music Awards in Durban played itself as yet another stage where “copycats” and name calling space for celebs who dared replicate garments of international if not local fashion designers. One celeb to be labelled was designer Paledi Segapo who wore a Thandolwethu Piliso blue draped suit design, which saw him getting into a social media spat with David Tlale’s intern designer Siphosihle Masango, who alleged that the designer had stolen his creation. BEYONCE LEADS THE GRAMMY NOMINATIONS

Beyonce leads the Grammy Awards nominations list. PICTURE: Billboard Beyoncé   leads this year's field of Grammy hopefuls with nine nominations, with   Drake ,   Rihanna   and   Kanye West   each garnering eight nods apiece. The awards show will air live from Los Angeles' Staples Center on February 12th. In the prestigious Album of the Year category, Beyoncé's   Lemonade ,   Rolling Stone 's Best Album of 2016 , will face off against   Adele 's   25 , Drake's   Views ,   Justin Bieber 's   Purpose   and   Sturgill Simpson 's   A Sailor's Guide to Earth . Although   25   and   Purpose   were released in 2015, they arrived after the cut-off for this year's ceremony and thus became eligible for the 2017 awards. PICTURE: WEB The U.K. ’s version of the Grammys boasted big-name performances from Adele, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, and yes, even Rihanna, who cancelled her Grammy set due to bronchitis.  The singer took to stage at O2 Arena to perform a song off   ANTI   for the first time since the platinum album’s release, and even brought out Drake, who’s been spotted around town. Clad in white Balmain garment she kicked off her set with her   ANTI   album opener Consideration with special guest SZA, who was silhouetted and spotlighted in the background while singing her hypnotic, catchy chorus. She then segued into Work while bathed in pink light beams before being joined by Drake, matching in white. PICTURE: Daily Mail LAST NIGHT more than 500 Oscar-winning actresses and actors, Wall Street titans, Silicon Valley wunderkinds, fashion designers and Hollywood players walked the 13o-metre red carpet leading into the Metropolitan Museum of Art for biggest fashion party of the year on the New York social calendar. The spring 2015 Costume Institute exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is dedicated to Chinese fashion, and that’s the theme for this year’s gala. The exhibit is called ”China: Through the Looking Glass,” and it showcases Chinese art and rare artifacts as well as dresses interpreting Chinese designs from Western designers like John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Tom Ford.
