THERE GOES THAT HOSTING IDEA
IT has barely been two week since the public broadcaster announced they will be bringing reality dinner hosting show Come Dine With Me South Africa to their channel, and they've ditched it.
The British concept show belonging to production house Rapid Blue has been pulled off SABC3 by the broadcaster who claimed the "right holders of the show have withdrawn their offer to produce the show" for them. It was set to start airing in July as calls for applicants were made by the production house.
SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago apologised to the fans in a statement on Tuesday.
"The SABC would like to apologise to all South Africans who adhered to the call to action in anticipation that we would be producing the show. The SABC strives to have the best local television formats and will continue to pursue bringing you the best of local premium content. Further announcements of the show’s replacement will follow," read the statement.

The reality dinner hosting concept has been in existence since 2005, with its first broadcast premiering in London. But after it's second season's success the show sold rights to other countries including Spain, Russia, India and was first produced locally in 2011.
This would have been a third season for the show in the country after it first aired on BBC Lifestyle but it seems even that dream would not be happening for aspiring dinner hosts.
One can't help but wonder what really happened?
