For the first time in the history of the Miss South Africa pageant,
license owners Sun International, in collaboration with Cell C, invite members
of the public to vote for their favourite Semi-Finalist and propel her into the
Top 12. They will then be able to vote for which girl they believe should wear
the Miss South Africa crown.
The Top 26 Miss South Africa Semi-Finalists – who are vying for the title of Miss South Africa 2017 – were announced earlier this year. They will compete for the prestigious title at the Sun City Superbowl on March 26 in an event which will be televised live and simulcast on M-Net and Mzansi Magic.
The first phase of the public voting opens at 00:01 on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, and runs until Friday, January 13, 2017 at 23:59:59. During phase one, the Semi-Finalist who receives the most public votes will automatically become one of the Top 12 Miss South Africa 2017 Finalists.
The voting will be done exclusively via SMS. The Top 26 Semi-Finalists will be showcased with photographs on all relevant digital platforms (the Miss South Africa website www.misssa.co.za; the Miss South Africa section of the Cell C website www.cellc.co.za/cellc/miss-sa and the Cellc.mobi content platform http://cellc.mobi.
When users click on a Semi-Finalist's image, they will see a short biography and be given the Semi-Finalist’s unique number which has been allocated to her based on the alphabetical order of her first name. The public can then SMS the number of their favourite Top 26 Semi-Finalist to the short code number 45791.
A member of the public may vote for more than one of the Top 26 Semi-Finalists and is allowed a maximum of fifty (50) votes per Semi-Finalist during the competition period.
The competition is open to all active mobile network customers across all mobile networks.
Each SMS will cost R1.50. Proceeds from the competition will benefit the Cell C Girl Child Bursary Fund. Cell C and Miss South Africa believes in the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women through education. The Cell C Girl Child Bursary Fund in partnership with Tomorrow Trust provides tertiary education and training for qualifying girl learners from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Voters must be 18 (eighteen) years or older, or assisted by a parent or guardian and accept the terms and conditions applicable to the competition. Grant Thornton will be auditing the results.
Up for grabs are double tickets to attend the live Miss South Africa pageant at Sun City for 10 lucky voters.
