BOMBSHELTER BEAST AT THE ORBIT TONIGHT
TWO weeks ago I penned an article about Pitch Black Afro making a return in music.
The 40-year-old rapper born Thulani Ngcobo has been out of the mainstream game for some time but is working on his return in the industry which he plans for sometime this year.
At the moment he is currently performing with a 12-piece band called Bombshelter Beast, which is dubbed the "country’s most colourful and inventive musicians".
It features the platinum-selling rapper Pitch
Black Afro, polyglot Pule, story-telling by songbird Dionne Song are joined by some of the best
instrumentalists in the business and also has a sousaphone, banjo, horns and rhythm section
make up the bones of the group and guest artists.
"They produce a unique South African sound that mixes everything from kwaito to ska, balkan to hip-hop, rock and jazz – and sometimes they throw in a bit of opera for good measure," wrote Marcus Wyatt in a release.
This Tuesday they are set to perform at The Orbit in Braamfontein for a cost of R120 per person. Check www.theorbit.co.za for more information.
