MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK LINE-UP REVEALED

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Joburg (MBFWJ) has announced this year’s line-up of designers who will showcase on their ramps from 10 – 12 March 2016 at Sandton City’s Nelson Mandela Square.

Organised and curated by African Fashion International (AFI), the three day event hopes to  showcase Autumn Winter collections from urban street fashion to chic ready-to-wear items and avant-garde designs from some of SA’s finest designers.

These designers include David Tlale, Khosi Nkosi, Stefania Morland, Scalo, Mille Collines, Marianne Fassler, Tamara Dyson, Tuelo Nguyuza Collectiv, Spero Viliotti Couture, Selfi, Augustine, Leigh Schubert, Grapevine, Scalo/Tsotetsi KL in association with FALKE, AKEDO EXCLUSIVE PRESENTATION and Carducci*.

Group Marketing Manager at AFI, Sizwe Nzimande said South Africa is bursting with creative and talented young designers who are passionate about making their mark on the global fashion scene.
“AFI’s commitment to sustainability in the African fashion industry and empowering individuals to showcase their work on an international scale remains a priority in 2016, and we look forward to seeing what our home-grown designers have in store for us this year,” said Nzimande.

Apart from showcasing for women designs, this year will include menswear designs menswear from designers Selfie, Carducci, Millie Collins and Tlale - who will present the first young designer talent to be nurtured under his seasoned wings in a show aptly named The Intern.

Nkosi’s collection will open the glittering showcase at the iconic Nelson Mandela Square, while David Tlale heats things up on Friday night at a mystery off-site venue to be revealed in due course.

Joost tape is out for all to see...

THE Joost van der Westhuizen sex tape saga descended into a tabloid frenzy last month as Heat magazine screened a grainy video purporting to show the former Springbok captain in compromising positions.  The 29-minute tape, which was shown to journalists, showed a man who bore some resemblance to Van der Westhuizen frolicking with what heat magazine described as a “vindictive young lady” wearing two G-strings “in the stripper tradition”.  It claimed that the video proved conclusively that Van der Westhuizen had cheated on his wife, singer Amore Vittone. But the magazine did not identify the woman and provided little corroborating evidence in the accompanying story. Twelve print, radio and television journalists watched the man, whom Van der Westhuizen strongly denies is him, arousing himself, running his hands over the woman’s body, and using a sex toy. Khanyi Dhlomo to wed for the 2nd time...

The gorgeous magazine editor of Destiny, Khanyi Dhlomo who also happens to be the sister to Sizwe Dhlomo, is to wed her Nigerian-American beau in December.
