SAMA nominees are out
THE 15th annual South African Music Awards nominees are out.
The biggest music awards in South Africa released the nominees last night at a party that was attended by many musicians in Fourways, Johannesburg and it turns out that Capetonians Dominic Peters and David Poole of the electro jazz duo Goldfish, are leading the pack with eight nominations for their second album Perceptions of Pacha.
Idols season four winner Jodi Williams also scooped two nominations for Best Pop Album and Best Newcomer for her debut album Just Gonna Be Me.
Two-time Oscar awards winners Soweto Gospel Choir are also up as nominees for Best group category against Goldfish, 340ml, Bala Brothers and Joyous Celebration.
In best urban pop album the awards will see three member group Gangs of Instrumentals. Kelly Khumalo, Lesego, Rus Nerwich and MetroFM DJ Unathi Nkanyi battle it out to get one of the great awards that was won last year by KB for her album My Rhythm.
One of the most popular categories of Album of the year that was won by Freshly Ground has this year 340ml, Chris Chameleon, Goldfish, Rhythmic Elements and Lira, while the Record of the year category boasts of 20 musos.
The winners will be announced on at the gala event that will take place in Sun City on the first weekend of May.
