EMINEM, thought he was long gone off the scenes!
OMG why is it that when you think famous people are gone off the limelight they always seem to find their way back into the spotlight, all for making money.
Well here is Eminem and he is back only because he is suing a rich company for moola for his digital royalties.
Thought he was long gone off the seens.
Two years ago, Eminem’s publishing company FBT Productions filed a lawsuit for $1.6m against Universal Music Group over digital royalties. This case could re-define digital royalties as we (and many artists who feel duped) understand them. The case finally went to trial this week.In an interview with Wrap magazine, one of Eminem’s lawyers explained that, "If you give the music to a third party without cost to you, like manufacturing or packaging, that's the same as a licensing agreement, [Universal] are characterising it as something else."
This case will make history in the music industry, despite the turnout. The rapid growth of the Internet has changed the way artists sell and promote music and this is the first trial to challenge the issues explained above. Witnesses in the case include UMG founder Jimmy Lovine and possibly Apple Computers CEO Steve Jobs.
