J&B MET FASHION ADVICE YOU COULD USE OR NOT??
With the J&B MET on this weekend, I cannot wait to see what people will be wearing and no worries as Gabiville will have the pics and juice to dish, for those who don’t have moola or have other plans other than go to the Met. But I say you snooze you lose regardless.
Well I have seen plenty of fashion faux pas happen in the past events, the Met, the July, the Metros, Fashion Weeks and not forgetting the SAMAs. And some even happen over our shores with the Golden Globes, The Oscars, World Music Awards, The MTV awards and even the Grammy’s. I tell you people, nothing beats simple and classic look that suits your body shape and colour.
Since this event will be happening in the sun, on the grass, with loads of heat penetrating the skin. I believe that people should have summer, bright ensembles and for the brave, perhaps a hat. But please not the Aretha Franklin Hat please, that will just be a serious FAUX PAS of note.
SA popular designer Gavin Rajah, said: “I will be working with a lot of head pieces small, subtle and some over the top. If people want to wear a hat, they can wear one that suits their garment but make sure you don’t look like a clown.”
I agree with the man. But Designer Thula Sindi doesn’t agree with Rajah and confessed, he is definitely not a hat person.
“Hats are like time machines rolling backwards,” he said.
And chic designer Machere Pooe of House of Machere said: “As long as it suits your face, then you can wear it. Nothing beats a great hat that looks good with your facial features.”
Here are great Fashion Looks that you can copy if you have time left to make a dress from scratch:
But here are some drastic fashion faux pas, that should never leave the house like:
· Wearing shoes that don’t compliment your garment
· Accessorising over another item like wearing rings over gloves or even too much bling is a NO!
· Try getting shoes that work well with your garment those can make or break your outfit
· The dress has to fit perfectly, don’t show too much cleavage as if the damn thing don’t fit
· Avoid bulgy garments because those always widen your figure or even your butt
· Too much WEAVE is a definite NO! NO!- Keep it simple, nothing with unnatural adventurous colours, to avoid making it look too fake and leave people wondering, “I wonder whose horse’s tail she wearing this time?”
· The tutu skirt was made for ballet and it should stay for that porpose unless its classically designed with great garment
· The colour must suit your body colour, if you too dark you mosdef you cant be seen in a bright yellow dress, just looks tacky
· Too much skin is just so overrated and played out in the early 2000s, with Jlo and Babalwa Mneno being the pros at it then. Leave it alone already. Subtle, more elegantly covered and secretive are attractive to the eye...
· If you gonna copy a classic design like that of Halle Berry’s Oscar moment ensemble, make sure you do it well but a ridiculous copy can leave a sour taste in the mouth
· Aladdin shorts, crops, minis are for going to hang with your friends if you have the bod for them, so not RED CARPET
· Leopard print is a risky choice of outfit, if you can get it perfectly done, nice fitting and classic looking then it can work for the brave at heart...
· Leave the ghetto look alone if you hitting the ramps, those are seriously for the clubs, not red carpet moments
Dont say I did not tell you and show up in something I clearly said was a NO! NO!, cause I will be there snapping away at ya.
If you coming, see you at the MET, for those who are not going, well Gabiville cannot wait to update you.
