Teargas is not a joke...
MOI decided to head off to Carfax on Friday night to see US drummer/DJ/Producer ?uestlove do his thing on the decks.
But to my disappointment some idiot decided they are going to keep releasing something that felt like teargas or what Nike sponsor dude (whom I don't know) called "pepper spray" into the crowds while the place was packed with over 1300 people.
It was not the first that that it had happened at the gig cause as I had just arrived with rapper Zubs performing, it happened, leaving Zubz pleading with people not to do such a thing.
And when it happened for the 2nd time, it left me along with others pushing and shoving to the door for some air.
The questions and things that keep clogging my head about this whole incident though are:
1. How did that substance get past security after everyone goes through a search at the door?
I thought the reason why there is security was to make sure that all dangerous substances don't get through the door, but by some crazy omen this got thing got in.
2. Is competition that stiff in Jozi for party organisers that peoples' lives must be in danger?
I decided to call this a sabotage from someone who was either jealous that musician Kabomo Vilakazi and DJ Kenzhero of Party People along with Nike, could pull off such a great gig and at the same time manage to host all the people that showed up. Sabotage, why?
I say that because what other reason would that person possibly have for doing such a dangerous thing, other than to try make people leave the function? No one is that stupid to do that, knowing very well how dangerous that could be for themselves and other people?
3. I have a few words for you Mr/Miss that released that substance.
Host your own gig and do that to your guests, don't come to gigs if you are not happy. If you are suicidal do it in your own space on your own, go play in the traffic to PTA between 4pm-6pm on month cause that ish was so not funny.
Call me names and say whatever but if your aim was to be nasty and ruin the gig, you lost.
But bare in mind, had ?uestlove or any other international artist been there to experience that, then once again SA would have made it into bad headlines internationally, and that is the last thing this country needs with the 2010 World Cup just around the corner.
"You didn't win because people did not leave. Have some pride in your own country men's success and Grow the f*** up!"
