Its a FACT: Wyclef Jean Rocks!
I have been to many concerts, in many cities in SA,
seen so many international artists come and go, but NEVER have I fallen in love with a musician over night.
That is what happened to me when I attended Mr Wyclef's concert at The Bassline in Newtown.
I last loved Wyclef from The Fugees and since then he became just another one of those artists, were in a grat group then whenthey decide to go sole they suck. But clearly I was wrong.
Because lastnight he proved to be very such a great performer, as he blew the house down doing remixes from The Fugees tracks, his popular songs like 911, two wrongs and my now favourite Dollar Bill.
Instead of just standing there on the stage and telling us about the US, fancy clothes, cystale champagne, his hommies he spoke to the audience about violence, crime, his love for SA, about his love for women, school and how men should love their women visa versa and many more things. Then he did the unthinkable but lovely thing by walking through the crowd and just singing to everyone, letting people touch him, hug him and some even grabbed on his a** (eish some ladies cant behave).
Instead of promoting drugs, sex, prison, being stabbed, having killed people and booze like tatooed The Game or the anti-Africa looser Akon, Wyclef left me wanting more and it was obvious to see that he reserched about SA and spoke about Steve Biko, Lucky Dube, Nelson Madela and many more people of SA. That is what all artists need to do because if you dont you concert ends being just another one of those in my mind.
To top it all off Wyclef begged the crowd to end the show by singing our lovely national anthem..."because he loved it" by far that was my highlight of the night.
So my people: That is how I fell in love with Wyclef's music
