PAUL MTIRARA IS PERMANENTLY ON 702 NOW
FORMER
MetroFM radio host Paul Mtirara, has found greener pastures as today he was
announced as “officially join Soulful Sundays on 702”, a show he will host from
13:00 to 16:00 every week starting from February 5.
Soulful
Sundays is on 702 every weekend from 10:00 to 19:00 and presents the best of
soul music and R&B from South Africa and across the globe.
“I’m
extremely excited about this new challenge,” says Paul.
“Working
with Nonn Botha and Kenny Maistry is like being part of a family. We’re
building the foundation of something new here on 702 and we ask our listeners
to be a part of this incredible journey.”
This comes
after Mtirara last April the same announcement was made but the DJ only
freelanced with the station after he was axed from SABC radio for “serious contractual
contravention on his part” after he returned
from a business trip from the UK in October. In November he was said to
have taken legal action against MetroFM but nothing has sufficed from these
reports. The radio personality started his radio career at Tru FM in the Eastern Cape before moving to Metro
FM and also holds an MBA from Milpark Business School.
The music
mirrors the Sunday vibe in Gauteng and showcases mellow, laid back tracks from
well-loved artists such as the Manhattans and Anita Baker. Paul has been in the
radio industry for almost 20 years and built a large following for his Sunday
music show while he was at Metro FM. His love for soul and R&B as well as
his experience in the timeslot makes him a natural fit to join the team on 702
weekends.
“Our
listeners have responded so positively to Paul, while he was freelancing with
us and that coupled with his love for soul music, it was only fitting that he
joins the team,” says 702 station manager, Thabisile Mbete. - additional reporting by Primedia
