BLACK COFFEE, CASTER SEMENYA AND WAYDE VAN NIEKERK UP FOR SOUTH AFRICAN OF THE YEAR AWARDS

GUPTA owned television channel ANN7 is back with their award ceremony South African of the Year Awards (SATY), which yesterday (14/09/2016) announced the final nominations for the 2016 serving of the event. 

For the awards - which are voted for by the public - the award offenders of the year including Black Coffee, five time SAMA award winner Nathi, television production couple Connie and Shona Ferguson and personality Bonang Matheba were also placed on the list with some interesting newbies also being recognised.

BET award winner Black Coffee nominated in the music artist of the year category alongside six others including Nomvula crooner Nathi, Durban hitmakers Big Nuz, musos Black Motion, Zonke, Joyous Celebration and rapper Emtee.

Matheba who received numerous awards for her presenting skills is nominated in the personality of the year category where she will be vying against former bestie Idols judge Somizi Mhlongo. Others in this category include Greed & Desire actor Thato Molamu, MetroFM and Supersport anchor Robert Marawa, The Voice: South Africa judge Bobby van Jaarsveld, Expresso presenter Katlego Maboe and actress Jay Anstey. 

Newly formed besties and Olympic gold medalists Caster Semenya and Wayde van Niekerk will go head to head at the sportsperson of the year category. They will battle for the winning gong against swimmer Chad Le Clos, cricketer Kagiso Rabada, rugby player Elton Jantkies, soccer player Keagan Dolly, athlete Luvuyo Manyongo and rowing pair Shaun Keeling and Laurence Brittain.

DJ Black Coffee,  Wayde van Niekerk and Caster Semenya are also up for the South African of the Year gong which they will tackle with actress Terry Pheto, Glen Mashinini and Brian Molefe. 

The "ANN7 SATY Awards," will take place at the Ticketpro Dome on Friday, November 25.

Joost tape is out for all to see...

THE Joost van der Westhuizen sex tape saga descended into a tabloid frenzy last month as Heat magazine screened a grainy video purporting to show the former Springbok captain in compromising positions.  The 29-minute tape, which was shown to journalists, showed a man who bore some resemblance to Van der Westhuizen frolicking with what heat magazine described as a “vindictive young lady” wearing two G-strings “in the stripper tradition”.  It claimed that the video proved conclusively that Van der Westhuizen had cheated on his wife, singer Amore Vittone. But the magazine did not identify the woman and provided little corroborating evidence in the accompanying story. Twelve print, radio and television journalists watched the man, whom Van der Westhuizen strongly denies is him, arousing himself, running his hands over the woman’s body, and using a sex toy. Khanyi Dhlomo to wed for the 2nd time...

The gorgeous magazine editor of Destiny, Khanyi Dhlomo who also happens to be the sister to Sizwe Dhlomo, is to wed her Nigerian-American beau in December.
