WHAT THE WOMEN WORE AT #SAMA22

IT’S true what they say about beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

This was also a fact when it came to the 22nd South African Music Awards red carpet looks for the event that took place in Durban last Saturday at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre.

The stars came out in droves being shuttled into the venue to walk the red carpet for the event themed “the future is here’’ at the event hosted by the ever-so-hilarious Somizi Mhlongo and 5FM radio personality Thando Thabethe.

But not all nailed the theme despite some really stunners on the carpet, but as always there is that case of how everyone interprets the theme. So each to their own I guess…

One of the favourite looks definitely belonged to rapper and MTVBase VJ Nomuzi Mabena who stepped out of her typical gangster chic hip hop look trying something elegant in a emerald green Gert Johan Coetzee creation. She carried the look with style and grace.

Her BFF and television personality Luthando LootLove Shosha was also a great surprise as she left the tomboyish style for a more daring cerise pink long garment. She showed off her best feature – her legs – with the high slit pattern dress by designer only known as Sihle. It’s always great seeing new designer brands making red carpet looks.

How dare we forget 5FM’s Tumi Voster in her black flowing Tuelo Nguyuza Collectiv dress?
Judging from the tweeps’ comments, she was a clear winner with the dress and her beautiful body was just an added bonus.

And oh but the Queen of fashion and style, MetroFM and Afternoon Express personality Bonang Matheba was another much talked about look as she rocked what she labelled as Etcetera Los Angeles designer Lethicia Bronstein. She paired her silver shimmering dress with

Rapper Nadia Nakai also served legs in a green garment by Sauvemaxia. Thando Thabethe looked stellar in a Quiteria and George creation on the red carpet before she took to stage wearing up to six looks for the night.

Joost tape is out for all to see...

THE Joost van der Westhuizen sex tape saga descended into a tabloid frenzy last month as Heat magazine screened a grainy video purporting to show the former Springbok captain in compromising positions.  The 29-minute tape, which was shown to journalists, showed a man who bore some resemblance to Van der Westhuizen frolicking with what heat magazine described as a “vindictive young lady” wearing two G-strings “in the stripper tradition”.  It claimed that the video proved conclusively that Van der Westhuizen had cheated on his wife, singer Amore Vittone. But the magazine did not identify the woman and provided little corroborating evidence in the accompanying story. Twelve print, radio and television journalists watched the man, whom Van der Westhuizen strongly denies is him, arousing himself, running his hands over the woman’s body, and using a sex toy. Khanyi Dhlomo to wed for the 2nd time...

The gorgeous magazine editor of Destiny, Khanyi Dhlomo who also happens to be the sister to Sizwe Dhlomo, is to wed her Nigerian-American beau in December. Knowing this for about a month know, I was quiet amazed when I saw it in the paper this weekend. Khanyi will walk down the aisle later this year with her hunk, Nigerian-American businessman Chinezi Chijioke. The lovebirds met at Harvard University and have been dating for over two years.
