Daughtry Nominated for an American Music Award
Band Earns Nod for the Year’s Adult Contemporary Music Favorite Artist Award
Debuts New Single “Life After You” on Ellen Today,
Launches First Headlining Arena Tour on October 19 in Topeka, Kansas
Los Angeles, CA – October 13, 2009 – Daughtry was nominated by the American Music Awards for the year’s Adult Contemporary Music Favorite Artist Award which is scheduled to air live November 22 on ABC.
“The band is really proud of this album and honored to be nominated,” says singer Chris Daughtry. “It’s a great feeling to be part of such a talented group of artists.”
This is Daughtry’s 6th American Music Award nomination in three years. The group won Favorite Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group in 2008 after picking up three awards in 2007, including Favorite Pop/Rock Album.
The nomination announcement comes the same week the band will debut “Life After You,” the follow-up single to “No Surprise,” the group’s fourth No. 1 hit. The new song is the second single from Daughtry’s sophomore album, Leave This Town, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this summer.
Singer Chris Daughtry, bassist Josh Paul, drummer Joey Barnes, and guitarists Brian Craddock and Josh Steely will debut “Life After You” today on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. The song will impact radio stations across the U.S soon.
Next week – on Monday, October 19 – Daughtry will launch its first headlining arena tour in Topeka, KS. The 36-date leg of the U.S. tour will feature the band backed by a large stage production.
